Delaware does not have a separate state loan program for its students.

It has designated American Education Services (AES) as the federal loan guarantor for the state.

These loans are from the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP).

There are no special benefits for citizens of Delaware attached to these loans.

What Delaware does do is offer Professional Incentive Programs. These are merit-based recruitment programs with loan repayment provisions. They are basically student loan forgiveness programs. These occupational areas are covered:

  • teaching
  • nursing
  • physicians
  • library and archives
  • optometry
  • speech and language pathology

School loans will be forgiven in exchange for working in your field in the state of Delaware.
