FAFSA
applications on time, Indiana Student Financial Aid Association (ISFAA) and the State Student Assistance Commission of Indiana (SSACI)hold an event called College Goal Sunday, where they receive help in filling it out. This year's College Goal Sunday is being held on February 15, 2009.
| Beginning with this year's FAFSA, Indiana will be one of three test states in which families have the option to use "FAFSA on the phone". They can call 1-800-4-FED-AID and have a government customer service representative help them fill out the form. |
In 2007, Hoosier Hope Scholarships were proposed by the Governor which would offer up to $20,000 for graduates who agreed to work in the state for three years. (Scholarships would have to be repaid with interest if the commitment was broken.) However, objections to privatizing the state lottery to finance the scholarships caused the idea to be rejected. A new bill is going to be reintroduced this year.
Indiana offers awards, grants and scholarships that target teachers, nurses and National Guard members. There are no conditions of repayment attached to this kind of financial aid for college.
