The Indiana Commission for Higher Education does not offer a separate state loan program.
Federal student are recommended with no additional benefits added onto them, and no state involvement at all since the FFELP loan program was cancelled.
(All federal loans are now Direct loans.)
However, in addition to state participation in matching funds federal student loan forgiveness programs, there is also the Questa 1/2 Back Loan Program.
It provides up to 50% loan forgiveness for students who borrow up to $5,000 annually to attend Indiana schools, graduate with a 2.75 GPA, and spend five years working in northern Indiana.

Frank O'Bannon Grant Program
For full-time Indiana students who have financial need. Award is calculated with this formula:
Your tuition and fees (up to a cap)
multiplied by (X)
Your high school diploma ratio (.80= regular; .90= Core 40; 1.0= Honors)
For part-time Indiana students who have financial need (calculated with the same formula, except the diploma ratio is fixed at .80). Must be enrolled for 3-12 credits. Minimum award is $50.
Twenty-first Century Scholars Program
for 6th, 7th or 8th graders to apply
income guidelines: family of two= $26,955; up to a family of six= $54,631; with $6,919 for each additional family member
sign the pledge to stay drug and alcohol free, file forms on time, apply to approved schools, graduate high school with a GPA of 2.0
award equals four years of tuition and fees at an Indiana public university
GEAR UP ScholarshipFor Twenty-first Century Scholars who are graduated high school seniors or completing college freshman, enrolled full-time for the fall. The award is up to $1500 for summer classes.
Nursing Scholarship
For full or part-time Indiana nursing students who agree to work in the state for two years following graduation as a registered nurse or LPN. Must demonstrate financial need, maintain a 2.0 GPA and graduate within 6 years. Award is up to $5,000 for tuition and fees.
Hoosier Scholar award
$500 non-renewable award for Indiana college freshman who graduated in the top 20% of their class.
The Indiana Commission for Higher Education also oversees grant programs for the children of veterans, public safety officers and National Guardsmen.
