CollegeTax Credit, Middle income needs help

by Ron
(Maumee OH)

My income is too high to qualify for any governmental assistance, but not so high that I can afford to send my daughter to college with no help. With house payments, car payments etc., there is not enough excess for tuition. My family lives a relatively frugal life but we in the middle income bracket and need financial help.

Answer:

The college tax credit is not really even financial aid in the usual sense. After all, it's your money- unless you don't owe any taxes- you are just being allowed to keep more of it, because you paid (or will pay) college expenses.

With merit aid rapidly disappearing and tuition costs increasing every year, middle income families need all the help they can get, if they don't want to be the next generation's low income families.

That doesn't make sense

How do the words "frugal" and "car payments" describe your family? Those two terms are contradictory. Being frugal is driving a car that you actually own.
