FAFSA Online Application for College and Taxes

by Jayden
(San Diego)

If they wanted the FAFSA online application to really be easier, they would just take the amount you pay in taxes. There would be no need to transfer any information, because they could just use what they have already. Whatever a family pays in taxes, should be the only indication of their income. Then your FAFSA EFC could simply be that number.

Doing it this way seems like they are trying to trap people and look for reasons to eliminate them from even taking out federal student loans.

How many different ways does the federal government need to calculate your income, anyway? No one should have to figure it one way for taxes and another way for FAFSA. I will probably file the paper printable FAFSA instead of doing it online, because that means more work for them- filling out anything is extra work for me.
