Federal Pell Grant Changes...This Works For Me

I recently discovered that the changes in the Pell Grant will allow me to receive Pell money for the summer session as well. This is great news for me, a single working mom who is also going to school full-time.

I have received the maximum for the last 2 semesters (fall 2009 and spring 2010) and was told by the financial aid department that I would not be receiving funds for the summer. This week I was notified that there have been changes. I am not clear on all the changes but I do know that I now can afford to pay for summer classes and continue daycare for my son. Without these changes, I would have to take him out of daycare and would then be unable to work full-time for lack of child care. For me, these changes are a miracle.
