SAD About Federal Pell Grant Changes

Once again the United States is messed up on what is best for the United States. Before long kids will be moving out of the country to get an affordable college degree. President Obama said he would not allow cuts in education, however that is what is being done. Economy, education, jobs are all going down the toilet in the U.S.

ANSWER:

President Obama may not be in a position to have much impact on cuts to the federal Pell grant program. Aside from facing a Republican Congress (which was elected because of their promises to cut federal spending) his budget proposal was not even able to pass the Democratic Senate.

There is no doubt that in hard economic times, programs like Pell cause resentment. People who are struggling but still do not qualify, do not see those that do as less fortunate than themselves. They see Pell recipients as somehow "privileged". They see the money they get for college, but they don't see the struggles these people go through in all other areas of their lives.
