The American Opportunity Tax Credit Empowers Education

This tax credit should be extended because education is the way the country will get out of the mess we are in due to the guys at Wall Street.
Education is very important to all children and the way to empower them is to build a strong foundation of knowledge in order to work and sustain themselves economically. The tax credit fosters education so all children will continue to value learning from higher education. Education is the way for the future to become brighter.
The government speaks of education being important but yet they do not support education. Taking this tax credit away does not speak highly of the governments/President Obama. They continue to say education is valued yet they do not value education if the American Opportunity Tax Credit goes away. Extend this tax credit beyond 2012. ================================================== ANSWER:
In President Obama's defense, he has often urged that this tax credit be made permanent. It is Congress that has not acted to do so. Tax credits often lead to unforeseen consequences. In this case, thousands more would-be students have enrolled in college and applied for federal student aid. So the college tax credit is also acting as a stimulus for more grant money being paid out by taxpayers. With federal budget problems, many legislators are looking for ways to increase government revenue and the college tax credit looks like an easy target.
